EVENT CANCELED:
We are sorry to announce that this Saturday's Covered in Color Festival has been canceled due to uncooperative weather conditions. The decision was made based on a forecast of extremely high winds and low “less than comfortable temperatures” which are not ideal for an outdoor festival. The excessive winds can create an issue for all attending and we want to ensure everyone's safety.
We are sorry for any inconvenience. We hope you will consider participating in next year's Covered in Color Festival or possibly attend one of our other upcoming Midwest City Festivals!

Covered in Color
Join us for the third annual Covered in Color: Sidewalk Chalk Competition and Arts and Crafts Festival on April 14 at Charles J. Johnson Central Park located in Town Center Plaza at SE 29th St. and Mid-America Boulevard from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Register to compete in the chalk art competition for a chance to win prizes! The event will feature live entertainment, art vendors and local organizations showcasing work for viewing and sale. Parking in Town Center Plaza and admission is free.
Live Entertainment
Live entertainment will be featured on the Central Park stage with additional arts and craft vendors and local organizations providing various artistic masterpieces for show and purchase on the green lawn. The event also features 3 live performances of chainsaw art sculptures throughout the day. Select pieces of these spectacular works of art will be available for purchase through a silent auction.
Family Fun
The event will also include colorful candy art creations, face painting, arts and craft vendors and caricature artist pieces available for purchase.

Sidewalk Chalk Art Competition
The park will transform into a vibrant palette for artists to showcase their talent, skill and creativity in the sidewalk chalk competition. Each contestant will have approximately a 4x4 pallet space. Up to four artists may collaborate on any one piece of competition art. Covered in Color will provide more than 40 pieces of varied-color, jumbo chalk. Artwork will be judged by a panel and prizes will be awarded the same day. Check-in will begin at 11 a.m. and end at 12 p.m. Contestants will create artwork from 12 to 3 p.m. Winners will be announced between 3:30 and 4 p.m.
How to Enter
Sidewalk Chalk Art Competition registration is now full. For those already registered, fees are payable the day of the event and are $10 per entry.
Sidewalk Chalk Competition Age Categories
Teams must consist of individuals in the same age bracket.
Bracket 1 - Ages 8-11
Bracket 2 - Ages 12-15
Bracket 3 - Ages 16+
Rules
Water-based chalk is the only medium permitted. Tempera powder, oil-based or any other permanent fixture is not allowed. Absolutely no spray paint or charcoal. Contestants may provide their own chalk on the condition it is inspected by a coordinator prior to use. Check-in begins at 11 a.m. Registration will not be accepted after 12 p.m. Contestants will have from 12 to 3 p.m. to create art. *Covered in Color is a family-friendly event. Artwork featuring nudity, foul language or other inappropriate content will be disqualified.
