Two covered entrances separate small and large breeds while the entire facility is surrounded by vinyl-covered fencing. As dogs are playfully engaged with each other, owners can relax in any of the shaded areas equipped with ample seating. After an afternoon of play on the built in equipment, the dog washing station is certain to come into great use. |

Atkinson Heritage Center
1001 N. Midwest Boulevard Midwest City, Oklahoma 73110 405.736.0315 Built in 1955 by W.P. "Bill" Atkinson, the Atkinson Heritage Center offers visitors a unique look at the interior of his home exactly as it was when Atkinson and his family lived there. The home offers abundant history even down to the preserved appliances and clothing belonging to the family as well as history collected by Atkinson. Within the confines of the home, there is a special room housing all of the bound volumes of the Oklahoma Journal, which Atkinson published from 1963-1979. Historical records can be traced back to the “Airplane” Room where Tinker Air Force Base leaders and officials would meet, in addition to local, regional and state political leaders and local education representatives. A Pony Barn, built especially for Atkinson's Shetland ponies, is also part of the mansion grounds and eventually became a museum for local history. |
C-47 Skytrain
Midwest City Veterans Memorial on Joe B. Barnes Road East Reno Avenue and Douglas Boulevard The fully-restored C-47 Skytrain is home in Midwest City. Records show this twin-engine transport aircraft saw World War II combat duty with Allied forces on D-Day, June 6, 1944 and is one of only two still in existence. The Midwest City Douglas Aircraft Company Plant constructed more than half of the 10,000 C-47 Skytrain U.S. Army cargo planes manufactured during World War II. The plant built 13 planes per day and fabricated parts for 500 more during peak performance. |
Major Charles B. Hall Memorial Air Park
I-40 and Air Depot Boulevard Midwest City, OK 73110 405.739.2026 The Air Park is a tribute to Major Hall and his fellow Tuskegee Airmen who were the first all-black unit of the U.S. Army Air Corps. The free airpark is packed with historical airplanes from a B-52 to a RB-47E and is open to the public from dawn until dusk every day of the week. |
