Midwest City will be Covered in Color!
A new event is coming to Midwest City this April! Mark your calendars for April 9 and join us for the inaugural Covered in Color: Sidewalk Chalk Competition and Art Festival. This colorful, family-friendly event will be held at Charles J. Johnson Central Park located in Town Center Plaza at SE 29th St. and Mid-America Boulevard from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The art festival will feature live entertainment on the Central Park stage. Visitors can pursue a variety of art vendors and local organizations showcasing masterpieces and creations for purchase. Attendees will also be able to view three live performances of chainsaw art sculpting throughout the day. These particular works will be available for purchase through a silent auction.
Are you or someone you know a talented creative mind who enjoys designing eye-catching works of art? Register to compete in the sidewalk chalk art competition for a chance to win prizes!
Participants can compete solo or collaborate in teams of up to four people. Contestants will have approximately a 4x4 pallet space to create their artwork. Forty pieces of varied-color, jumbo chalk will be provided. Artwork for the contest will be created from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The winners will be announced between 2:40 and 3 p.m. Fees are payable the day of the event and are $10 per team. For rules and registration for the chalk art competition click here.
Designated chalk areas will be open for non-competitors to create their own designs. Bags of five, varied color, jumbo chalk will be available for $2.
Experienced artists are invited to collaborate with one of our Town Center Plaza businesses to design a specialty piece to enhance the spectator experience.
Parking will be available in Town Center Plaza and admission is free. Volunteer and sponsorship opportunities are available. For more information click here or call Susan at (405) 455-1818 or Susie at (405) 739-8232.
