Learn Something New at the Community Learning Center.
Rose State Community College has released the spring 2016 course calendar for the Community Learning Center (CLC). The CLC in Midwest City offers educational opportunities to the public through programs for all ages. Programs include the Kids College, Teen Scene and personal enrichment for adults and seniors.
CLC’s Kids College is offering two courses for the spring semester that begin in February. The after school reading program is designed to develop interest and increase reading skills in a fun environment. The reading program will commence on Feb. 8 and be held each Monday through April 25. The after school math program utilizes cooperative games and activities to increase understanding and help children gain math confidence. After school math will begin Feb. 11 and meet weekly each Thursday through April 28. Each class will offer two sessions. The first session is open to children ages 5-6 and will be held 4:30-5:20 p.m. The second session is open to children ages 7-8 and will be held 5:30-6:20 p.m.
Young adults and teens can attend Teen Scene at the CLC for an A.C.T. test prep class, or Saturday A.C.T. cram sessions. A workshop will be offered on Jan. 30 for students wanting to attend college while minimizing student loan debt.
Adults and seniors will be pleased with the array of course offerings this spring. Classes include ballroom dancing, ceramics, fishing techniques, creative writing, group piano, intro to sign language, intelligence and counterterrorism, jewelry design, painting, foreign languages and more. There will be a variety of technology classes for Microsoft products, navigating smart devices, Facebook as well as marketing and selling on EBay and Etsy. Private musical lessons for almost any instrument are also offered.
No matter if you’re looking for after school tutoring, A.C.T. prep or to develop a new skill or hobby, Rose State’s CLC has something for everyone.
